We transfer Camcorder tapes of most kinds. VHS-C, Video8, Hi8, Digi8, MiniDV (inc HD). (We may ask you to bring in your camera and all it's leads if it uses a less widely used format)
8mm VIDEO FORMAT The 8mm video format refers informally to three related video cassette formats for the NTSC and PAL/SECAM television systems. These are: 1) Video8 -  the original format analog recording 2) Hi8 - improved successor analog video and analog audio but with provision for digital audio 3) Digital8  a more recent digital recording format Their user base consisted mainly of amateur camcorder users, although they also saw important use in the professional television production field. 8mm tapes are about a quarter of the size of VHS tapes, their larger cousins. 8mm cassettes can be confused with audio cassettes, given their similar dimensions. However, 8mm tapes are thicker than audio cassettes. The first 8mm commercially successful camera for this format was released by Sony in 1985. All three of these 8mm tape formats look remarkably similar to one another. The main differences between the formats is the way the video is encoded onto the tape. The maximum run-time for the tape is 120 minutes 8mm tapes generally transfer to digital in high quality. Some older tapes show signs of deterioration during playback. It is still possible to find the equipment needed to record on 8mm tapes. However, the format is rapidly being replaced by digital camcorders and smart phones that record directly into digital files.

Each tape to its own high quality DVD.The ideal way to enjoy your family memories.  In with the price above, we will also print a title in black onto one DVD  (Add an extra £1.00 to the cost per disc for a colour printed DVD).  If more than one DVD is required per tape, or you would like further copies please see the extra charges in the section below headed 'Extra DVD Copies.'   To supply extra copies of the same video onto a USB as an MP4 -  we charge an Extra £2.00 per copy (plus the cost of the actual USB) Please mark each tape with the label you would like us to use and the number of copies required. **All the above options are magnetic media, which could have been around for a very long time.  Unfortunately this media is liable to degrade if it is not stored well, particularly if it comes in contact with moisture or has been stored near hi-fi speakers.  If it is possible to take copies from your media we will, but we cannot be held responsible if any damage has occurred and the video does not play quite as expected, e.g. colour changes or glitches in sound or video. If the damage is obvious or the tape is blank, we will return the tape at no charge.  If part of the tape is obviously damaged, we may call and speak to you first before going ahead with the transfer.

***Even if there is only a small amount of video on your tape, we will still charge the prices above per tape.  It often takes extra time to locate small lengths of video and then to edit the file to take out the blank areas.

CINE FILM CONVERSION

TechnoVisual can now offer conversion from 8mm cine film reels to DVD or file.  We use high quality scanners for this process.

For conversion to a file, Use the conversion prices below.  We can supply a USB stick if required, please see our USB prices above.

TechnoVisual do not clean or restore Cine Film in with the costs for conversion, we only offer a simple brush clean in with the scanning process.  Unfortunately, we often see the build up of dirt and grease on the playback of many Cine Films and it can spoil the viewing experience.

Cleaning Cine film is a specialist, labourious process and should be carried out by a professional film restorer.  If this is a service you are interested in, we charge an hourly rate @ £40.00 no vat.
